CIPS MEMBERSHIP
CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) membership provides procurement and supply chain professionals with global recognition, career development opportunities, networking, and industry resources. Membership levels range from student to Chartered status, and benefits include professional qualifications, training, and industry insights.
CIPS membership is required to sit for CIPS exams. You need to be an active member to register for and take CIPS qualifications. Membership provides access to study resources, exam entry, and professional support. Different membership levels are available depending on your career stage.
EXAM QUESTION TYPE
The modules you study will be assessed by either Objective Response (OR) exams or Constructed Response (CR) exam formats. It is better to start with OR type exam.
Objective Response (OR):
CIPS Objective Response (OR) exams assess knowledge through multiple-choice and objective-type questions, evaluating candidates’ understanding of procurement and supply chain concepts. They are computer-based and can be taken at an exam center or remotely.
In OR exams questions you will select a response from a list of possible answers. You will find these types of exams across all our qualifications.

Constructed Response (CR) Questions:

CR exams are graded as:
50% Pass
60% Merit
75% Distinction

For instance, as of April 2025, the fee for the Level 3 module “Contract Administration (L3M3)” is £49.00, while the Level 4 module “Commercial Negotiation (L4M5)” is £56.50.

Exam Center & Remote Exam
CIPS remote exam instructions:
Step 1: You’ll need a desktop/ laptop computer and a mobile device that meet the minimum technical requirements specified on our website here. Step 2: Your remote invigilator will watch you during your exam, using the VICTVS V3 application on your mobile phone or tablet device. Download the VICTVS V3 App onto your compatible device. You will receive your login details from VICTVS V3 two weeks prior to your exam date. If you’ve not received this email, please contact: [email protected].
Step 3: Your exam will take place on our TestReach computer-based application using your own desktop or laptop computer. Download the TestReach App onto your desktop/laptop computer.
Step 4: Check and confirm that your exam booking(s) in MyCIPS show in your local time and that it matches your exam booking(s) on TestReach and the VICTVS V3 application. Your VICTVS time will display 30 mins earlier than your exam start time, this is to give you time to check in with your invigilator before the exam starts. Please note, these will display in your accounts at least five days prior to your exam date. Your invigilator must be able to see you throughout your exam. You are expected to apply for a reasonable adjustment and submit valid medical evidence for rest/toilet breaks during an exam.

Before booking your remote exam, it’s important that you can meet all of the criteria:
- A constant, stable and high-speed internet connect
- Have a quiet private room to sit your exams
- Access to equipment that meets the essential technical requirements:
- Mac 10.8+ or Windows 7+ operating system Important note: Surface Pro/iPads/tablets/notebooks are not compatible with the testing software so you cannot take your exam on any of those devices
- Intel Core i3 (or equivalent) and 4GB RAM
- A working webcam, microphone, and speaker system
- Continuous internet speed of a minimum of 516 kbps
- A comfortable-size computer screen of at least 11 inches to minimise fatigue.
